Sikhs - Tracking the Journey: Flourishment & Contribution in Birmingham & the Black Country (A4 Booklet)
This booklet was created to accompany the "My Story, Our Journey" exhibition. It is a comprehensive guide to the overarching themes within the large topic of migration. It was compiled using oral histories, research, statistical data, and the time and effort of many volunteers. The stories in this booklet explore the various challenges that Sikhs faced, and how they found the social support, persistence and determination to reach their potential.
Sikh Migration Project - Learning from our elders' experience (PDF)
This PDF contains an introduction to conducting research and offers questions that we put together to use within our oral history interviews. We encourage you to download this document and conduct your own interviews. Partly as a way of discovering more about the journeys of elders within your own families, and also potentially as additional research for us to use and share as we try to accurately represent a large and diverse community. These interviews can be conducted by individuals of any age, however we recognise that children aged 5-11 may need an adult to support them as some of the topics are complex.
